Internet Standard: Jak wykorzystuje się nowe technologie w Polsce?

Economist Intelligence Unit przygotował szósty z kolei raport dotyczący przystosowania 68 krajów do funkcjonowania w świecie nowych technologii telekomunikacyjnych i informatycznych. Dane zgromadzone przez autorów raportu pozwalają ocenić, jak na tle innych krajów wypada Polska. A wypada gorzej niż przed rokiem - spadła z 32. na 34. miejsce.

Kineo: E-learning trends according to Google

Google Trends was launched in May 2006. It's yet another highly addictive application from the google lab pushers. It is a little tool that allows you to track how often specific search terms are being entered into the Google search engine. It shows over the last few years whether the volume of searches for any particular search term is increasing or decreasing. Kineo spent some time using it to analyse the trends in e-learning. BBC: Students to have podcast lectures

Leicester students may no longer have to spend summer days in stuffy lecture halls thanks to tutors making teaching material available via podcasts. By downloading lectures onto MP3 players, professors at the University of Leicester believe student learning can be made much more effective.

Given the hundreds of millions of dollars spent each year on technology initiatives in higher education, questions about the value of these expenditures almost seem moot. However, virtually every CIO at every institution of higher education is asked to report the return on investment (ROI) of technology spending on his or her campus. Making such an accounting is a daunting challenge. Applying a strict business-school definition of ROI would require providing evidence of a dollar-for-dollar return on hardware, software, and infrastructure projects. The desired return in question, however, is not always so obvious. Should technology investments save money? Increase institutional capacity? Improve throughput?
