This is the last issue of e-mentor before holidays-break. Although academic year is coming to the end, there are still very interesting e-learning events happening. I'd like to attract your attention to a report from conference Academy Online and the interview with the head of Conference Council.

In this issue we also present a wide range of articles considering e-learning: a development of e-education, activity of educational centers, edu-games. This time readers can get to know with Quest Atlantis - 3-D game with over 3 800 users. We do not omit knowledge management, lifelong learning and e-business. I recommend Knowledge Management Unplugged?, which tells about effective knowledge management without using advanced technology. The author underlines the meaning of workers and the flow of knowledge in organization. In e-business sector we present an article about teleworking, which, known for years, nowadays are becoming more and more important for employers. Telework is a good solution for companies which have premises problems. It also influences on more effective use of human resources.

I also recommend an article about e-sgh (Warsaw School of Economics' virtual campus), which contains a description of future development of e-learning in Higher School of Economics. SGH started to supplement extramural studies with e-learning. First, we concentrate on lectures and exercises of elementary subjects. In the nearest future, we will start to work on faculty subjects and whole subjects online. Next issue of e-mentor will contain an article describing present situation.

We started preparations to a conference on e-education, which was mentioned in last issue. On behalf of Conference Committee, I kindly invite you to take part in this event. The conference will be held on 18 of November 2004 in University of Economics in Katowice. It is organized by the Foundation for the Promotion and Accreditation of Economic Education and Academies of Economics from Katowice, Cracow, Poznań, Wrocław and Warsaw School of Economics from Warsaw.

We suggest following topics for the conference:
  • organization of e-learning in Poland and worldwide,
  • methodology of e-learning,
  • technologies supporting online education,
  • projects which promote e-learning.
