Dear e-mentor Readers,
It's my pleasure to present the first after a holiday break issue of "e-mentor". With the beginning of a new academic year we raise vital topics of the directions of universities' development and of the curricula offered by them. Therefore, the issue is opened by an article on university's social responsibility (on the example of AGH University of Science and Technology). The next article provides an analysis of the potential of university's development enabled by an interest in the new areas of science and teaching (on the example of Poznan University of Economics).
I particularly recommend articles concerning e-education, including the one devoted to forms and methods of active engaging students in the online teaching process. The topic of learners' motivation, particularly in reference to complementary teaching is extended also in section Lifelong learning.
I would like to invite the readers to take part in the 6th conference The development of e-learning in higher education of economics, which will be organized on 19th November 2009 by Karol Adamiecki University of Economics in Katowice. The propositions of papers should be submitted before 15th October, whereas the registration of participants will take place until 5th November.
As in previous years, we announce a competition for the Conference participants. This time its aim is to select the most interesting examples of online forms of activity used in diverse forms of e-learning. The authors of the most valuable propositions will be invited to present them in the form of short, few minutes long speeches during one of the sessions. Additional information and an application form for the Conference are available at: e-edukacja.net
Finally, one more time, I would like to encourage you to read the present issue of "e-mentor", as well as to get acquainted with the publications after the previous editions of the Conference (their electronic versions are available at the website mentioned above).
