I am pleased to present to you the first in 2008 issue of 'e-mentor'. To begin with, I highly recommend another, after recently published discussion with the Minister Barbara Kudrycka, interview with a representative of institution which has a great influence on the shape of Polish education - namely the President of the State Accreditation Committee, prof. Marek Rocki.

I also recommend papers of Piotr Wachowiak and Jan A. Fazlagic concerning higher education and its management. For those readers who are interested in ICT in education, I would suggest an article dedicated to virtual patients, i.e. simulation tools which are used in medical e-learning.

Furthermore, a paper on Shibboleth and its potential role in the development of e-learning services is worth mentioning. Not only the title She sells sea shells - Shibboleth is intriguing, but also, I can assure you, the whole article is equally interesting.

Finally, I would also like to draw your attention to papers on prosumption as a form of gaining and using customers' knowledge and on initiatives dedicated to consumers' education.

I remind our readers that the Repository of Universities of the Third Age (the whole database which was presented in installments throughout 2007) as well as conference calendar have been published on our website. The calendar, although usually filled in by our editors, is also open for information from Readers whom I encourage to send us their announcements.
