June has always been a hot time due to exam session and pre-holiday conferences. Among time-consuming meetings and seminars, it is good to find a moment for a quiet lecture of 'e-mentor'.
15th issue is dedicated in a large part to intellectual capital (IC) and academic entrepreneurship. Considering IC, it is recommended to draw attention to its diverse aspects. In the April issue, we published articles about the influence of IC on innovation development and creating intellectual space in a company. This time, we present, among others, an analyses of a present state and trends in IC development distinguishing five contemporary trends of IC research. What's important, IC measuring doesn't have to be limited only to an institution or a department, but can be related to a whole society. The Intellectual Capital of Lublin area is a project which aims at measuring and diagnosing the IC of the inhabitants of Lublin voivodship - the results of the projects are presented in a relation of a conference organized by the project team. More and more often different initiatives on academic entrepreneurship and cooperation between science and economy are being undertaken. Following the trend, we publish relations from conferences and projects in this fields.
I recommend a comparison of e-business and traditional enterprises with a developing aspect of personalization in marketing and an article on relations and trust in knowledge management processes in a company. We also write about universities of the third age which bring a lot of social advantages.
Naturally, we also focus on e-learning issues, presenting main ideas of a discussion from the third seminar - a meeting of academics dealing with e-education - which aimed at systematizing knowledge about academic e-learning models. We have also initiated a presentation of central banks educational activities, describing Bank of England and Deutsche Bundesbank and publish relation on using games and simulations in education. The issue contains also case studies on academic and business e-learning which are a very useful example for institutions which begin such implementations. Therefore, I encourage other departments to present their projects and initiatives.
I hope that June issue will be an interesting lecture, also for holidays.
