Civil education in Polish schools for adults in 1945-2000
Along with coming elections, a question about civil attitudes and civil education of Poles is again a subject of discussion. It is worth to analyze whether Polish citizens had opportunities to gain knowledge about principles of democracy and of how a state functions and, what is more important, whether they feel any need to educate in this field.
The article presents historical background of civil attitudes, the history of adults education after the Second World War with the impact on Russian and democratical patterns in Polish educational system. Curriculums of knowledge about society implemented in 90s and a reform of the educational system have also been described.
