The use of Google AdWord platform in the programme of teaching for Electronic Business specialty

From January to May 2009, Google for the second time opened a competition for students in a sponsored research, Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC). The first edition was organized in 2008 and attracted over 800 students form over 400 schools from all over the world. In the present study, the author shares the experience of a student form Karol Adamiecki University of Economics in Katowice who has participated in the competition. The author points how the competition have increased the value of the classes on Electronic Business and Economics Informatics specialties, where the students have been carrying experimental e-commerce projects so far. The article describes the sponsored searching, presents basic concepts concerning marketing in online search engines as well as proves that this type of activity is suitable for a project carried out during the classes. Except pointing to the elements, which were done, the author reveals also those elements, which were troublesome as well as proposes the hints for future. The study should particularly interest the academic lecturers, who can take part in GOMC in future as well as those who consider including Google AdWords platform (or any similar tool) to the curriculum.
