Prototyping of virtual production network in small and medium-sized enterprises

Nowadays many companies specialize in a limited field of production, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises. It requires building virtual production networks of cooperating enterprises to produce better, faster and cheaper. Apart from that some production orders cannot be realized, because there is no company that would have sufficient conditions. In this case the network of cooperating companies can realize those production orders. The network of cooperating companies has more production capacity and many different resources. So it can realize much more production orders than one of them. Such organization allows executing high quality products. The maintenance costs of production capacity and using resources are not high. The productivity is higher in all production systems in the network. The average costs of those systems are smaller and companies are more competitive.
In this paper a methodology of forming a virtual production networks is proposed. They allow setting a course of production process parameters in each enterprise and in a whole network of cooperating enterprises. This solution allows assessing the possibility of the execution of new production orders, regarding the limitations connected with transportation system, store system, time limit, costs and available in time production capacity structure of cooperating enterprises. The proposed methodology is an alternative to time-consuming and laborious optimization methods and simulation methods that are used to solve similar problems.
