Selected elements of e-education in the University of Gdansk

The University of Gdansk has been implementing e-learning since 2003. Authorities of the university participate in the process which helps in overcoming financial and organizational barriers. At present, there exist two e-learning platforms: one is commercial and the other is based on the open source model. Apart from them, every academic or institute can use other tools in supporting traditional courses. The article presents the development of e-learning in the University of Gdansk.
