Universities facing economic and social changes in the XXI century
University is an institution serving society. Its main goal is to create new knowledge (through the scientific activity) and then its distribution (in the course of the didactic activity). These processes, whom can be attributed very deep and permanent character, are worked out mainly thanks to the universities' culture. Nowadays we are facing the next change being the outcome of the globalization. Gradually universities are becoming the institutions where the entrepreneurial behaviors are being shaped. Moreover, they also try to act themselves in that direction. However, that approach is firmly linked with other important issues. The dynamical development of the educational market - very competitive one - and also challenges of the XXI century entitle to make a conclusion that only institutions open to implementing changes will survive. Other will disappear or will be merged by the emerging leaders.
