Supporting traditional lectures with forum - basic possibilities
The paper discusses the use of asynchronous online discussion tools as an add-on to on-campus courses. A case study of two courses conducted by the author serves as a basis for an analysis of teaching effectiveness of these techniques. It is argued that online forums can serve as an effective and attractive supplement to on-campus courses. However, their use should be carefully planned for positive results to be achieved.
