Professional development - the motives of undertaking the activity of learning

The man in times of technological, social, and economic transformations, in order to hold the work position as well as to keep definite standard of life, has to flexibly react to needs and the requirements placed both by the organization he works for and by the challenges of work market. Mainly, the requirements concern the professional worker's development, which in effect is an advantage for the organization as a whole. However, not always worker's goals are similar to the organizational ones. The motivation of improving job qualifications, the will of the professional development, which mean undertaking the activity of learning, can be different. In the article the author presents the categorization of learning motives in context of professional development, which is the base of the methodology of the future research. Such research, taking the economic circumstances of functioning the organization, can and should be also be done by HR (human resources) workers, who are in different organizations responsible for personnel policy and training.
