Virtual internships - a new way of gaining professional experience

Contemporary students use ICT in their everyday life for communication and searching for information. The didactic process at universities (also in Poland) is more and more often supported by e-learning and academic libraries offering internet applications for borrowing books. Can students use their abilities concerning Internet for gaining professional experience? The article describes the idea of virtual internships - a new way of cooperation between students and entrepreneurs. It also presents the European project 'Cross Sector Virtual Mobility' which aims at creating a model of virtual internships and database of offers of such internships for students.
