According to statistics, two new blogs appear every second. There are over 70 million blogs already existing worldwide. The article examines the phenomenon of blogs’ increasing popularity. Not only does it describe blog as a kind of personal diary, but also as a useful device in politics and business. The author points to communicative, informative and opinion-forming functions blogs perform. Scientist, the author claims, appreciate blogs for being a source of newest information and a scope for discussion. Moreover, blog is presented as an effective educational tool enabling students and teachers sharing their knowledge outside the classroom.
