The author discusses the changing role of education and teacher resulting, among others, from common access to information published online. He presents the history and development of e-learning in Poland along with its current state. The initiative of Open Content created by David Wiley and the 'Open Courseware' project of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have been characterized.
