Origins of the theory of virtual entertainment - a review of "Homo players"
The article is a review of the book "Homo players" by Dominika Urbańska-Galanciak, in which the author presents the juxtaposition of the two strategies of computer games reception; the approach that finds the value of the game in its narration and the attitude that game's value lies in the entertainment it provides. Although the book is criticized for the lack of consequence or appreciation for games cultural role, the author of the review finds interesting the results of the study on diverse groups of game players provided by Dominika Urbańska-Galanciak. The description of literary work reception and its application to the theory of computer games is also praised in the review.
