Prof. Piotr Bołtuć of the University of Illinois at Springfield, simultaneously member of the Editorial Board of our journal, shares his experiences in online education with the readers, also suggesting new methods of e-learning in higher education. The first part of his article discusses the four main types of e-learning. His classification differs from the traditional one, coming close to e-learning as employed in the universities. Professor Bołtuć expresses his dissatisfaction about the universities' lack of support for online education. Those institutions have no long-range policy in the area of e-learning, not to mention their low budgets, shortage of qualified personnel and unsatisfactory technology. The author is considering the most frequent arguments against internet education, trying to dispel the doubts and expressing his belief that the arts of humanities can be taught easily and effectively via the internet. In conclusion, the author describes the potential development of e-learning in higher education. He also comments on the spread of educational freedom, both in research and didactics.
