The meaning of emotional intelligence and social competence in education at the Warsaw School of Economics
Emotional intelligence and social competence are factors which recently have attracted attention of both psychologists and businessmen, their impact on professional careers being evident. Since long psychologists have anticipated that "academic" intelligence determined by traditional testing is not sufficient to foresee human achievements, for instance at school or at universities, nor does it allow one to predetermine human efficiency in professional situations conditioned to a large degree by contacts with other people, teamwork and keeping a tight rein on emotions.
