Dear e-mentor Readers,
I would like to welcome you to the new academic year and encourage you to read the October issue of the magazine.
The current issue begins with an analysis of an extremely significant problem, namely the diversification of economic development and of living conditions in the context of differentiation between "Poland A" and "Poland B". The author juxtaposes the indicators of welfare with the level of advancement in the process of the knowledge-based economy creation in particular districts.
The EAIR 33rd Annual Forum 2011 was undoubtedly an important event for academic environment. The E-mentor provides a report from this international conference, which was held on 28-31 August 2011 at the Warsaw School of Economics. I recommend also the article focusing on collegial decision-making process at public universities with regard to the changes implemented to Polish higher education system and the challenges they bring for the academic institutions.
Broad space in the current issue is given to the topic of e-education. I particularly recommend the article about the role of constructivism in developing academic teaching and popularizing e-learning.
There is one further article worth mentioning - a study focusing on teaching entrepreneurship and economics in secondary schools and on the academic environment's expectations toward the new teaching subject - Economics in practice, which is supposed to complement the curriculum of the Basis of entrepreneurship classes, which have been conducted until now.
Finally, I would like to invite you to the 8th conference "The development of e-learning in higher education of economics". The conference will be held on November 17th, 2011 at Cracow University of Economics. For more information, including an application form, go to" www.e-edukacja.net.
