Dear e-mentor Readers,

The amended Act on Higher Education points the directions of academic education development and defines the conditions of universities functioning. It can be said that it mainly creates bases for particular regulations introduced by means of ministry's dispositions, simultaneously, in many key areas, bringing specific solutions. One of such areas is the activity of the Polish State Accreditation Committee (functioning since 2002 as the State Accreditation Committee). Prof. Danuta Strahl, vice-chairman of the Committee, writes about the changes of law basis for its activities and new challenges it faces.

I would also like to encourage you to read the papers focusing on e-education, in particular those analyzing the forms activating students to co creating educational process. It is difficult to overestimate the vital role of Web 2.0 technology and culture in academic education. Moreover, I recommend as well the paper presenting the process of knowledge management in, rarely examined in this context, agricultural environment. You can read about the knowledge passed down from generation to generation and the value of advices among the farmers in the Knowledge Management section.

All the valuable articles of the 40th issue of e-mentor are hard to enumerate. I hope that every reader will find the content he is particularly interested in - both in the area of e-education, continuing education, knowledge management, e-business and as well as economic education programs.

At the same time, I fell pleased to recommend to the readers of e-mentor a recently published monograph entitled Conceptions and practice of e-education concerning the topics of speeches given during the VIIth edition of conference The development of e-learning in higher education of economics. I would like to invite you to the Conference's webpage: www.e-edukacja.net, where the electronic version of the publication is available for download.
