Dear e-mentor Readers,

The issues of intellectual property rights provoke strong emotions, both among academics and in business world. The era of digital development and creation of information society brings increasing need for protection of creative works as well as for sharing resources freely. The necessity to accommodate those seemingly incompatible postulates exceeds considerably the law discourse, which brings analyses into economic field. I strongly recommend the opening articles, which focus on the abovementioned topics.

I would also like to point your attention to the article in the section Knowledge Management, concerning the asymmetry of knowledge within network company as well as the idea of crowdsourcing. That new conception prompts organizations to greater openness and free transfer of information and knowledge.

Moreover, I think the readers interested in the phenomenon of virtual worlds, who would like to get familiar with their pros and cons, especially the benefits they offer for education processes, will find the books recommended in this issue worth reading. Just as suggested by the title - Coming of Age in Second Life: An Anthropologist Explores the Virtually Human - the publication concentrates on the analysis of Second Life, however, the assumptions drawn may be successfully generalized in reference to other so called serious virtual worlds.
